My handmade jewellery is heavily influenced by my cultural background, and depict stories passed down to me, as well as experiences and explorations of my own life. The symbols and materials also provide each piece with context and narrative. The majority of my works are made from recycled beading, metals, and natural fibres.
My redirective practice is to deconstruct items that are costume or passed off as traditional designs, and rework them into new pieces to give them meaning. This is very much a self-exploratory process and works to subvert appropriation, challenge waste culture and instill objects with meaning.
