Design Research Society Conference 2020

The DRS (Design Research Society) 2020 logo form was initially inspired by the hexagonal shape of a honeybee hive. Not only are these bees working together to protect the hive, gather and provide food for themselves and ensure their hives’ future, they achieve this through their interaction with elements within the environment whom also depend upon that interaction for pollination and from an anthropocentric view, a food source. This is represented by the alteration of this basic shape into the letterforms, while the colours – while recognisably ‘Brisbane’ are illustrative of the collaboration of multi-disciplinary fields. Design research, practice and realisations are holistically interdisciplinary, and our facilitation in forming and future making comes from that synergy.
